  • GINGERS

Gingers belong to the plant family known as Zingiberaceae with around 50 genera and over 1,000 species. Gingers are found throughout the tropics but are especially abundant in Southeast Asia.

Gingers are distinguished by the presence of a labellum, formed by the fusion of two sterile stamens and by the presence of essential oils in their tissues. Gingers are used as spices, for medicinal properties or grown as ornamentals.
