  • ORCHIDS

Orchids form probably the largest flowering plant family with around 750 genera, more than 20,000 species with many thousands of man-made hybrids. They vary enormously in most respects, but are alike in producing fascinating flowers.

About half of the species of orchids are terrestrial (growing on the ground) with the other half being epiphytic (clinging to trees, shrubs or rocky surfaces).
