  • VINING PLANTS

A good definition of a vine would be a flexible, weak-stemmed plant whose long, slender, fast-growing shoots mostly rely on other plants or objects for support.

Vining plants offer the collector or gardener limitless possibilities. Vines can be trained to grow along walls and fences, up arches and trellises, and to cover up buildings or dead or unattractive trees and structures. Many vines have beautiful foliage, colorful berries and fruits, and some produce phenomenal blooms. Vines demand traiing and attention in the beginning to ensure proper anchoring to surfaces and periodic pruning and training after they have become established.
